Safety is now acknowledged in global environmental policies as essential to achieve sustainable development and strengthen economic growth.
Despite the fact that European roads are the safest in the world and road safety has improved greatly in recent decades, the number of deaths and injuries is still far too high and progress has slowed. Will the EU and its member states succeed in their Vision Zero and Safe System approach to eliminate deaths and serious injuries on European roads by 2050?
