The Customer Experience for car owners, which covers everything from car shopping and buying, financing, insurance, to vehicle service, sharing, personalization and after market, is going through big disruptions; not the least of which is the growing variety of ownership models. As Autotech Council members firmly believe, disruption means opportunity for the right ideas, technologies, and companies.

On the sales/purchase side, Tesla pioneered direct-to-customer sales methods, and disruption in the Dealership model. But COVID-19 is having a wider effect, getting most of the major carmakers to also shift to online, no-visit car sales methods. Customers have shown a desire to remove the haggling, the uncertainty, and risk of this stressful part of car ownership. Coming after COVID-19, some Chinese car dealers have implemented key delivery by drone and a no-contact sales and service experience. Some of these efforts are destined for the junk yard, but some might stick. Will we ever return to last-century’s model?

The sales / purchase process is just the beginning of the Ownership Experience, so our meeting will also touch on the forward-looking changes to:

  • Service and maintenance
  • Charging
  • Connected Services
  • Sharing Platforms for private owners
  • Insurance
  • Personalization
  • Aftermarket

Join Autotech Council members for a morning of debate and discovery, product demos, startup pitches, and great networking as we get a sense of the innovations and the more immediate tech and opportunities that will shape the Ownership Experience.

COVID-19 ANNOUNCEMENT: We continue to monitor developments and are ready to return to our onsite meetings after restrictions are lifted and our members are able to meet in person. Attendee’s personal log in instructions will be sent 24 hours before the meeting.

About Autotech Council Public Meetings:
The Autotech Council occasionally opens to non-members to discover a segment of the auto industry that is attracting large amounts of innovation and investment. Public meetings are ½-day agendas that highlight a few vendors who are leading the segment and introduce dozens of undiscovered companies or technologies. Expect demos, startup pitches, plenty of time for networking, business discussions, and an interactive format that promotes relationships between member and non-member companies.

The event is finished.
